A father of nine who worked for Dairygold for 38 years has been on hunger strike since last Wednesday in protest against the redundancy terms offered to him.
John Lane (54) parked in the town square in Mitchelstown, Co Cork, and is staying in the car around the clock. He worked in Dairygold’s superstore in the town, which became a 4HOME premises in 2006.
When when the store closed last August, he was offered the equivalent of 1.1 weeks pay for every year of service, he says.
