Kenmare's super-stylish Cafe Indigo has just announced the opening of the first blini bar in Ireland, which will run in conjunction with the restaurant, and will be open from 10.30 p.m. to 12.30 a.m., six nights a week during the height of the summer season.

The blinis are buckwheat pancakes which are served with a choice of 16 different toppings, ranging from the inexpensive - with black and red lumpfish caviar, at £4 - to the medium priced - sea-urchin roe at £9.50 - right on up to the high-roller blinis, such as blini with beluga caviar at £56 a pop.

The blinis come with chopped red onions and soured cream, or a Dijon-flavoured cream sauce, and you can buy an appropriate shot of Stolichnaya at £2.10, or a glass of wine or bubbly to partner them. Cafe Indigo is above the Square Pint pub in the centre of Kenmare, Co Kerry.
