A woman in her sixties was killed last night when she was struck by two cars on her way to mass in Co Monaghan.
The 67-year-old woman was crossing the N2 outside her home to attend mass at the Corracrinn Chapel near Emmyvale when she was struck by the first car which knocked her down on to the road at 8.55 p.m.
Before she was removed from the scene the woman was struck and killed by a second car. Gardai said a local man is helping them with their inquiries.
The woman has been identified but her name has not yet been released.
