Bucharest - An Englishman being held in Romania on suspicion of having sex with a local boy was named last night as a Church of England priest, the Rev Michael John Taylor (34) of Essex. The Bishop of Chelmsford, the Right Rev John Perry, confirmed that the vicar of St David's in Eastwood shares the same name and age as the accused and is currently in Romania.

Mr Taylor was found with the 14year-old boy by charity workers and police on Tuesday in an apartment near the Gara de Nord railway station in Bucharest. Romania has become a magnet for European paedophiles because of widespread poverty and the large number of children who have left home and frequent the railway stations. - (PA)
