Ireland’s Darren Clarke won the Compass Group English Open for the third time in four years at the Forest of Arden today.

Clarke scored a closing 68 - which was superb considering some torrential rain during the round - to take the £133,330 first prize by a three-stroke margin from Denmark’s Soren Hansen.

Ryder Cup team-mate Phillip Price was third for the second week running, sharing it this time with France's Raphael Jacquelin.

Clarke, winner at Hanbury Manor in 1999 and the Forest of Arden the following season, finished with a 17-under-par total of 271.
