Killarney Town Council has held a civic reception for five award-winning Kerry press photographers. They included Irish Times photographer Bryan O'Brien, who recently won the Press Photographer of the Year award for the third time. O'Brien is a native of Lewis Road, Killarney.
"I still have very close connections with Killarney and am very proud of anything to do with Killarney," O'Brien said.
The others were Don MacMonagle, Domnick Walsh, Valerie O'Sullivan, and Julian Behal. The Mayor of Killarney, Ms Sheila Casey, said five awards for Kerry photographers marked an outstanding achievement in a highly competitive profession.
"Good photography is more of an acquired skill than a gift and these people are all a credit to their profession," she added.
The winning photographs will be on display at AIB, Killarney, for the next two weeks.
