THE Chinese ambassador to Ireland has told a Fianna Fail delegation she has received "no Government representations" over the recent Channel Four television programme Return to be Dying Rooms, on the ill treatment of children in orphanages in China.

The delegation consisted of Mr Ray Burke, Mr David Andrews and Mr Eoin Ryan.

The ambassador, Ms Fan Huijan, has now agreed to come before the Oireachtas Committee on Foreign Affairs on February 14th after refusing an earlier invitation. She has also agreed to meet the newly formed "Friends of Chinese Orphans Ireland" to discuss possible Irish assistance such as paediatric staff, sponsorship of orphanages and a formal adoption agreement between China and Ireland.
