Hong Kong - Beijing will try a veteran dissident on Monday, just days after the trials of two other prominent dissidents this week, a Hong Kong-based human rights group said yesterday.

Mr Xu Wenli (55), who has been accused of organising the Chinese Democratic Party, will be tried in Beijing on the charge of "subverting state power", which carries a maximum penalty of life imprisonment, according to the group.
