The Chamber of Commerce of Ireland has expressed mixed feelings about the Budget and said that it was disappointing that it failed to seize the opportunities by the present buoyancy of the economy.

The CCI president, Mr Tony Prendergast, expressed concern about the increase in public spending and also the fact that the Budget took no significant initiative designed to reduce the tax wedge "which discourages many people to leave the social welfare system and join the labour force".
