Proceedings against celebrity chef Conrad Gallagher by the landlord of the premises which formerly housed the restaurant, Lloyds Brasserie have been settled, the High Court heard yesterday.

The action was taken against Mr Gallagher by Gerard McGurn, landlord of premises at Upper Merrion Street, Dublin. When the case was before the Master of the High Court last July, it was stated that Mr McGurn's claim was for £70,500, made up of £57,500 for alleged rent arrears and £13,000 for a personal loan which Mr McGurn claimed to have made to Mr Gallagher and which, it was claimed, was repaid by a personal cheque which "bounced".

In an affidavit at a later hearing, Mr Gallagher said that over the past two-and-a-half years there had been a "litany of problems on a daily basis" with the premises, arising out of which there had been numerous complaints by customers. He had expended monies, he said, on the restaurant and was counter-claiming in respect of them.
