Cause of Clare crannóg fire investigated

The cause of a fire at a world-famous Cragganowen heritage site in Co Clare last night is still being investigated.

The cause of a fire at a world-famous Cragganowen heritage site in Co Clare last night is still being investigated.

The Clare fire brigade was called to Cragganowen heritage site which boasts a reconstruction of an early medieval crannóg at around 9 p.m. last night.

Two dwellings built on a man-made island at the site were destroyed in the fire. The cause of the blaze remains unknown.

Two fire engines from Shannon Fire Brigade attended the scene and took roughly an hour to extinguish the flames.
