French club Castres are to appeal over the 12 month ban handed out to their forward Ismaelia Lassissi for biting an opponent during a European Cup match, the club's sporting director Jacques Cauquil said today.
The Ivory Coast-born forward was found guilty of biting Irish international Peter Clohessy during his team's 21-13 win over Munster on January 12th.
Clohessy was cited by Castres in a counter response for making an alleged racist remark to Lassissi, but the French club withdrew their protest.
The 32-year-old Lassissi's suspension is one of the most severe handed out to a player in the European Cup.
