London - The actress Joan Sims, who has died aged 71, made her name as one of the flirtatious blondes in the hugely successful "Carry On" films.
She was an immensely popular screen star, excelling in roles which she herself described as "everything from old ladies to dizzy blondes and giggling girls or, as someone once said to me, the falling-down parts".
