Lowering the voting age to 16 would be the best way to tackle election apathy among young people, the National Youth Agency said yesterday.
The NYA's chief executive, Mr Tom Wylie, said giving 16-year-olds the vote would "sharpen up the attention of politicians, national and local, to youth issues." Writing in the Times Educational Supplement yesterday, he said Labour's recruitment of Geri Halliwell to its campaign showed parties were making some effort.
