US President Mr George W Bush may visit Ireland in the summer, it has been reported.
However, a spokesman for the Department of Foreign Affairs could not confirm the report and a Government spokeswoman also told ireland.comshe knew nothing of a planned visit by Mr Bush.
The Irish Independentreport says the trip is still at the initial planning stages but quotes a senior White House official as saying: "We are looking forward to it".
It is believed the visit - in conjunction with a visit to Britain - would be to thank the Irish people for support in the aftermath of the September 11th attacks in New York and Washington.
