A bus driver was shot in his legs last night in Derry as he drove elderly women passengers home from a trip to Donegal.

A bus driver was shot in his legs last night in Derry as he drove elderly women passengers home from a trip to Donegal.

The attack happened when the bus had stopped at a house in Arranmore Avenue in the Creggan estate.

The driver was hit on the head before being shot. No one else was hurt in the incident although many of the passengers were badly shaken.

The victim was taken to hospital where he is described as being ill but stable.
