The trial of three companies charged following the school bus crash that claimed the lives of five schoolgirls nearly two years ago will take place in five weeks time.

It was confirmed yesterday at Trim Circuit Court that the trial will begin at a special sitting of the court on March 6th next.

At the current sittings of the court yesterday Judge Michael O'Shea said that the sentencing of Meath County Council, which has entered guilty pleas to two charges, should take place at the conclusion of the trial.

He adjourned the cases against the three companies to the court.

The companies are Bus Éireann; Keltank Ltd with an address at Railway Street, Balbriggan, and McArdles Test Centre Ltd, Coes Road, Dundalk.

The companies were charged following investigations by the Garda and the Health and Safety Authority.
