Burma says it has released 91 members of an opposition party who were detained with their leader, Aung San Suu Kyi's, following a clash with pro-government supporters in late May.

The National League for Democracy (NLD) members had been released over a three-week period starting on June 26th, according to a government letter sent to foreign embassies yesterday. The letter made no mention of Suu Kyi, diplomats said.

Burma's military government is under intense international pressure to release Suu Kyi, who was detained on May 30th after a clash between her supporters and a pro-government group.
