British detectives hunting the gunman who killed policeman Ian Broadhurst in on St Stephens' Day are seeking a suspect named as Nathan Wayne Coleman.
US-born Mr Coleman (37) has been in Britain for around four years and had worked as a doorman in the West Yorkshire area. His name emerged after police raided a flat in Leeds close to where the gunman's getaway car was found abandoned.
Mr Coleman lived at the flat but had not been seen since Boxing Day.
At a press conference, Det Supt Chris Gregg, who is leading the investigation, said: "We need to trace as a matter of some urgency Nathan Wayne Coleman." He warned that the person who shot PC Broadhurst could still be armed.
PC Broadhurst (34), a married man of Cookridge, Leeds, was murdered after officers spotted a stolen car parked near to a row of shops in the city's Dib Lane. PC Broadhurst was killed and his colleague PC Neil Roper was injured when the gunman opened fire.
PC Roper (45) is recovering after emergency surgery for wounds he suffered when he was hit twice during the attack.
