A 9-year-old boy was killed when he was struck by a car in Galway yesterday.
The boy was struck at Ballinamona, Menlough, shortly after 4pm.
He was taken to Portiuncla Hospital but was pronounced dead a short time later.
He is the 309th person to die on the States roads this year.
