Police in Greece said today that a small bomb exploded outside the local office of an extreme right-wing party in an industrial town west of Athens, causing damage but no injuries.
The explosion, caused by a home-made device, happened at the Golden Dawn party’s office in the town of Aspropyrgos in the early hours.
The office and a shop in the same building sustained damage in the blast.
Golden Dawn, a formerly fringe party with a deeply nationalist agenda which advocates expelling all immigrants from Greece, rose to prominence in recent elections amid the country’s deep economic crisis to win 18 seats in the 300-member parliament.
