Stephen Buchanan, from Ballycarry, Co Antrim, had been out cycling when he vanished on September 26th in the Groomsport/Millisle area.

PSNI officers in Larne investigating his disappearance of the 56-year-old recovered the body from the upper reservoir on the Woodburn Road, Carrickfergus, yesterday evening.

A PSNI spokeswoman said investigations to confirm the identity of the remains and a cause of death are ongoing.

“Police are continuing to search for a black and orange Canondale bicycle and other cycling equipment that Stephen used and police would appeal to anyone who recovers these or knows of there whereabouts to contact detectives in Larne,” she added.
