Gardaí say the body of a man found in a field outside the village of Mullinahone, Co Tipperary, on Thursday evening is that of Arturs Vagalis (37), who had been reported missing from his home in Kilkenny last month.

Mr Vagalis, a Latvian, was last seen near his home on Walkin St in Kilkenny city on February 20th at 4pm.

His body was discovered by a farmer in a field close to Mullinahone, some 16 miles from Kilkenny city. The area was examined by members of the Garda technical unit from Templemore yesterday before the body was removed to Wexford General Hopsital where a postmortem was carried out.

Supt Chris Delaney of Clonmel Garda station said the results showed "no foul play or third-party involvement". He said gardaí were contacting the man's family in Lativa and that an inquest would be held.
