Perfect Dark Nintendo 64 £54.99
It is common for an upcoming game to be hyped out of all proportion. Perfect Dark goes one step further by claiming to be the best video game ever. It's essentially the sequel to the sublime Goldeneye, but because of its more violent content has been given an over-18s rating. Perfect Dark has taken three years to develop, and it shows. Joanna can use over 40 weapons, including a Lap Top Gun, N-Bomb and the Farsight XR20, which allows you to fire through walls. There are umpteen options to choose from, particularly in the excellent multiplayer modes. Atmospheric sounds and great graphics compliment the game, and yes, it is better than Goldeneye. It may not be the best videogame ever, and it's not "perfect", but it comes very close.
World Championship Snooker Sony PlayStation £29.99
WORLD Championship Snooker, the official game of the World Snooker Championships, features 20 of the world's top players, including Stephen Hendry, Mark Williams, Ronnie O'Sullivan and Ken Doherty. It features several arenas, including the Crucible in Sheffield, and the accompanying music is that famous tune the BBC use when covering the World Championship.
A referee that replaces the balls and calls out your score and the commentary are other firsts for a snooker game, although the commentary by Dennis Taylor is limited and soon becomes annoying. For beginners, there is a great facility when aiming to see what way not only the cueball will travel, but the object ball as well. With this mode on it's hard to miss any pot, but it is a great way to get to grips with the game.
