Belfast pianist wins trophy

The 1998 Blacktie National Piano Competition at the National Concert Hall has been won by Mr David McNulty (18) from Belfast

The 1998 Blacktie National Piano Competition at the National Concert Hall has been won by Mr David McNulty (18) from Belfast. He received a £5,000 cheque and a perpetual trophy, together with a sponsored recital and complete evening wear from Blacktie.

The runner-up was Mr Adrian Murphy (18) from Dublin, who received £2,000, and in third place was Ms Ruth McGinley (21) from Derry, who received £500.
