A man wrongly accused of shoplifting was awarded £4,000 agreed damages in the High Court in Belfast

A man wrongly accused of shoplifting was awarded £4,000 agreed damages in the High Court in Belfast. Mr William Galloway (44) of Edenvale Gardens, Lisburn, sued F.A. Wellworth Ltd for defamation, assault and false imprisonment. Mr Galloway said he was about to leave the store in Lisburn on December 1st, 1995, when he was grabbed and brought down in full view of the public.
