The RUC has warned more than a dozen republicans in west Belfast to be on the alert following reports that loyalist death squads have obtained details of their whereabouts and movements, writes Carmel Robinson. The warning follows an incident at the weekend in which two men were slightly injured when a bomb exploded under their car in Belfast. One of the injured men is a former member of the INLA who was jailed in 1982 for possessing explosives.
The Sinn Fein president and MP for West Belfast, Mr Gerry Adams, confirmed that more than a dozen people had been told of the threats at the weekend. He said that there was a need for "great caution and vigilance".
