Ballydoyle duo, Aidan O’Brien and Michael Kinane, enjoyed a clean sweep at today's 35th annual Derby Awards.

O'Brien was named the top Flat trainer while Kinane scooped the top jockey award following their season of rivalry with Godolphin.

Martin Pipe and Tony McCoy got the same double up as they continue to carry all before them on the National Hunt scene. Sue Magnier and Michael Tabor took the owners' prize.

O'Brien was crowned champion Flat trainer in both Ireland and England thanks to such superstars as his three-year-old Galileo, who added the Budweiser Irish Derby and the King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Diamond Stakes to his Vodafone Derby triumph at Epsom.

The quietly-spoken Irishman handled his dual Derby and King George victor for Magnier and Tabor. Kinane rode the colt to each of his five wins in 2001.

Sheikh Mohammed's Godolphin brainchild - involving jockey Frankie Dettori and trainer Saeed bin Suroor - was overlooked in the awards, despite the victories of Sakhee in the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe-Lucien Barriere and Fantastic Light in the Breeders' Cup Turf.

Also out of luck today were the 'smaller' operations of Milton Bradley - responsible for prolific winning sprinters such as Brevity - Norman Mason and Richard Guest who combined their talents to help Red Marauder plough through the Aintree mud and win a memorable Grand National.
