A man accused of taking part in a gang attack in which another man was stabbed had bail set at £2,500 by Dublin District Court yesterday.

Mr Terence Maughan (23), of Cappagh Field Halting Site, Finglas, is accused of assault occasioning actual bodily harm at the Royal Canal Bank, Crossguns Bridge, Phibsboro, on August 14th.

Det Garda John Ryan said the victim spent 10 days in hospital after receiving several stab and slash wounds, broken teeth, a broken jaw and punctured lung. Five people were involved in the attack and two men had been charged.

Judge Murrough Connellan remanded the defendant in custody with consent to appear again on September 4th.
