A man charged with assaulting his late uncle appeared before Galway District Court again yesterday and was remanded in custody for four weeks to appear at a sitting of the Dublin District Court.

Mr Patrick McGreene (28), with addresses at Corrib Park and St Mary's Road, Galway, is charged with intentionally or recklessly causing serious harm to Mr Tom Clisham (53), unmarried, of Caislean, Inverin, at Inverin, between November 24th and December 4th, contrary to Section 4 of the NonFatal Offences Against the Person Act 1997.

Mr McGreene's counsel, Mr Michael O'Higgins, told Judge John Garavan he was concerned that his client had not received any psychiatric or medical treatment despite recommendations from both the District Court and the High Court. The judge expressed amazement and suggested the matter be raised again.
