Anglo to sell Swiss banking arm

Anglo Irish Bank has agreed to sell its Swiss private banking subsidiary to St Galler Kantonalbank for an undisclosed sum.

Anglo Irish Bank has agreed to sell its Swiss private banking subsidiary to St Galler Kantonalbank for an undisclosed sum.

Ireland's third largest bank said it expects to complete the sale of Anglo Irish Bank Suisse in the first quarter of 2008.

St Galler, a regional lender based in St Gallen, Switzerland, will also buy an affiliated Portuguese operation.
