Paris - Algeria's outlawed Islamic Salvation Front (FIS) yesterday approved a peace deal between its armed wing and the government, hailing it as a breakthrough in efforts to end violence in the North African country. But FIS, once Algeria's main opposition group, urged President Abdelaziz Bouteflika to allow its members to resume political activity after a seven-year ban.
