A plan to develop an air service to three west coast islands is actively being pursued by the Department of Arts, Heritage, Gaeltacht and the Islands.

The proposed landing strip for Clare Island, Co Mayo, is moving towards planning permission stage, while preliminary investigations have been taking place on neighbouring Inishturk. A service is also earmarked for Inishbofin, Co Galway.
