Air France has canceled two thirds of its flights from Paris' two commercial airports as a strike by the company's pilots entered its fifth day.
The strike was conducted by six pilots' unions, led by the National Airline Pilots' Union (SNPL), after talks on salaries and pensions broke down on Wednesday.
Some 54 per cent of Air France flights from Paris's Roissy-Charles de Gaulle (CDG) airport and 75 per cent of flights from Orly, the capital's other major airport, were scrapped.
At CDG, northeast of Paris, 196 flights of the day's 369 flights were cancelled. At Orly, 165 departures of the 220 planned were cancelled.
The national carrier was forced to cancel around 45 per cent of its scheduled flights from CDG and 15 flights from Orly yesterday.
Although the strike was scheduled to end later today, there could be further disruptions on Wednesday, when trade unions are planning a day of action over the privatisation of domestic carrier SUD-aerien.
