Air Canada is laying on a daily service between the Co Clare airport and Toronto - the first flights since 1979.

The summer service will begin on June 14th as part of a plan by the Canadian national airline to extend services throughout Europe.

Air Canada began operating flights between Shannon and Montreal in September 1947 under its then name, Trans Canada Airlines.
