Ahern to meet Bush's envoy to Northern Ireland

The Taoiseach is to meet US President George Bush's special adviser on Northern Ireland  at Government Buildings today.

The current review of the Belfast Agreement is expected to top the agenda in Mr Ahern's talks with Dr Mitchell Reiss who was appointed by President Bush as a replacement for Ambassador Richard Haass.

Dr Reiss, who is also Director of Planning at the US State Department, is in Dublin on his first visit to Ireland since his appointment.

The Taoiseach is expected to brief Dr Reiss on recent political developments including the Irish Government's committment to continuing with the implementation of the Agreement during the current impasse.
