A court ordered yesterday that two men charged with the manslaughter of a farmer from Tubber, Co Clare, Mr Raymond Hynes, are not to go within five miles of Tubber village because of fears over their safety.

Ennis District Court was told that one of the men, Mr James Curran (21), of Church Road, Tubber, after advice from gardai has already removed himself from the area.

Mr Curran and Mr Noel Walsh (20), of Garryland, Gort, were formally charged on Thursday night at a special sitting of Gort District Court with the manslaughter of Mr Hynes (37), at Rathwilladoon, Tubber, on October 26th.

Mr Hynes of Kilkeedy, Tubber, died five days after injuries sustained in the alleged unlawful killing.

Remanding the two in custody with consent to bail, Judge Albert O'Dea set bail at £3,000.
