Hanoi - Another spate of poisonings in Vietnam's restive central highlands put 67 people, most of them schoolchildren, in hospital late last week, an official said.

Three teachers and 63 schoolchildren from the Le Dinh Chinh and Ea Rok primary schools in Ea Sup district in Dak Lak province were treated for poisoning in hospital on Friday and Saturday, a district education official said.

The communist party chief for the Ea Rok commune was also apparently poisoned after visiting the schools, and taken to hospital, the official said.

Hanoi has blamed political saboteurs for a spate of mystery schoolroom poisonings in the highlands.
