At least 41 people were killed and hundreds went missing when a Senegalese passenger ferry carrying almost 800 people sank off west Africa.
Sixty survivors were known to have been plucked out of the water by different boats at the scene of the tragedy off the coast of Gambia.
The ferry, the Joola, had 796 people on board when it left Ziguinchor, the chief town in the southern Senegalese province of Casamance, to the capital Dakar.
Officials said the boat, which resumed sailing on September 10th after more than a year out of service for repairs, capsized in a storm last night.
