The find was made in an open area in Navan at 5.30pm yesterday evening.

The drugs were removed to the Garda Technical Bureau for further examination.

Earlier, two people were arrested for suspected drug trafficking following the seizure of heroin with a street value of €200,000 in Blarney, Co Cork.

The seizure was made at a house in the town on Friday night, Gardai said yesterday, and was part of an ongoing operation targeting the sale and supply of heroin in the Cork city area.

Those detained were a man aged 30 and a woman of 28.

They were being questioned separately at Gurranabraher and Bridewell Garda stations under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice Drug Trafficking Act.
