A man who caused an accident which resulted in the death of a cyclist has been given a three-year suspended sentence by Judge Frank O'Donnell. Robert Kiely (48), Rutland Avenue, Crumlin, pleaded guilty at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court to dangerous driving causing death on July 14th, 1997.

The deceased, Mr Edward Mooney (24), Clonmacnoise Road, Crumlin, had been cycling to work when a mixer detached from Kiely's van at Divett Road, Drimnagh, killing him instantly.
