2012 school league tables

There were some inaccuracies in the 2012 School League Tables supplement published in last Wednesday’s edition.

There were some inaccuracies in the 2012 School League Tables supplement published in last Wednesday’s edition.

The entry for Meán Scoil Muire Gan Smál in Cork did not have the number of its students (19) who went on to study at UCC. Consequently, the percentage of the school’s Leaving Cert students who went on to college education was 80 per cent and not the 42 per cent as stated.

The correct percentage of Gaelcholáiste Luimnigh pupils who went on to college is 88 per cent. When pupils who have deferred their third-level place until next year are included, this figure rises to 90.3 per cent, and not 61 per cent as reported. The discrepancy occurred because of incorrect information received from a number of third-level institutions.

The entry for Coláiste Chineál Eoghain, Bun Cranncha, (listed as Gael Choláiste Bhun Cranncha) said that just two of seven students have progressed to third-level. In fact, six of the seven ( 86 per cent) were offered places in university or institutes of technology.

The entry for Yeats College Galway said it had 338 students. The correct figure is 230.

Any upset to school staff, parents and pupils caused by the inaccuracies is regretted.
