Baghdad - Iraq's health ministry claimed yesterday that UN sanctions have caused more than one million deaths since they were imposed in 1990. "The poor sanitary situation has been the cause of 1.19 million Iraqi deaths since the sanctions were imposed and of the rise in the mortality rate of young children," a ministry official said.
