A firm of Paris shirt-makers received almost £16,000 from the Fianna Fail's leader's allowance bank account in 1991, the tribunal was told.
Two payments were made to the Charvet company from the Allied Irish Bank account in 1991, counsel for the tribunal, Mr John Coughlan SC, said.
The first debit of £8,332.32 was drawn on the leader's allowance account on February 4th, 1991, payable to AIB.
Mr Coughlan said evidence in relation to this cheque had already been given at the tribunal's public sittings by Mr Haughey's personal secretary, Ms Eileen Foy. While unable to recall the precise purpose of the cheque, she speculated correctly it was drawn to purchase a bank draft.
Mr Coughlan said it appeared the cheque was used to purchase an international cheque drawn on a Paris bank in favour of Charvet Paris for 61,605 francs. "It appears that Charvet is the name of a firm of Paris shirtmakers," he said.
A second cheque dated September 18th, 1991, for £7,500 was drawn on the account, and used to purchase a second international cheque also in favour of Charvet for 63,000 francs.
