Gardaí in Tallaght have appealed to the public for assistence in their investigation into a fire which left a 12-year-old boy dead this morning.

The boy’s body was found after the fire brigade was called to attend a fire in a makeshift den near Rossfield Avenue just after 5 a.m.

A post mortem examination found the boy died from smoke inhalation.

A second youth, who was also in the den, is understood to have escaped the blaze. He was treated in Tallaght Hospital for smoke inhalation.
