11 saved in three marine rescue incidents

Eleven people have been rescued in three separate incidents off the Louth and Cork coasts.

Eleven people have been rescued in three separate incidents off the Louth and Cork coasts.

In Louth, a boat with six people on board became stranded in a sandbank just outside Dundalk Harbour and had to be towed home.

In Ballycotton in Co Cork, a catamaran with four people aboard also had to be towed to shore when the skipper lost control of the vessel.

Meanwhile, a swimmer in Ballycotton bay was rescued by another swimmer. Both men are being treated in University Hospital Cork for injuries.
