Over €100 million is to be spent on the expansion of Dublin’s Heuston Station.
Iarnród Éireann announced today that by 2003, the number of platforms at the station would increase from four to nine.
The company say the €117 million project will bring capacity and safety benefits to Intercity and commuter customers using the station.
Apart from upgrading existing signalling and tracks, the expansion will cater for the increase in commuter traffic expected because of the development of routes serving Co Kildare.
