Dublin City Council will spend almost €788m from its day-to-day account this year

The money will come from:

Government grants of €111.18m

Goods and services will contribute €325.08m

Rates on commercial businesses will yield €259.74m

The Local Government Fund will account for an expected €92m

Another €1bn will come from capital grants for infrastructure, as part of a three-year, €2.8bn investment plan. This will be funded by the National Roads Authority; from the Department of the Environment for large-scale projects such as sewerage and housing; and from development levies and loans.

Where the money will go:

€205m will be spent on housing

€98m on roads transportation and safety

€113m on water and waste-water services

€25m on development incentives and control

€215m on environmental protection

€69m on recreation and amenity

€46m on education, health and welfare

€17m on miscellaneous spending

Total €788m

The capital spending of €1bn will go mainly on investment in housing, roads and large- scale water and waste-water treatment plants.
