TODAY For a musical day with a difference go along to the annual open day of the Conservatory of Music and Drama in DIT Rathmines, Dublin, where there will be individual and ensemble performances by students and instrument demonstrations by the conservatory's teachers. In an innovative move by Cork City Council, basic life support skills are being provided free so that the public can learn what immediate steps to take in the event of someone suffering sudden cardiac arrest or stroke. The four-hour course takes place in Millennium Hall, City Hall, Cork at 8.45am or 1.45pm. Register on 087-2898075.
Shows by the Lambert Puppet Theatre are always worth a visit but the latest show in Cork Opera House is a must-see featuring a cameo by the legendary Bosco. Snow White and The Seven Dwarfs is suitable for three- to 12-year-olds, and plenty of famous characters from past RTÉ children's shows put in appearances in the first half. Have a philosophical lunch break today with the first of four monthly lunchtime discussions held by Dublin's Unitarian Church on St Stephen's Green under the general heading of Talking on Tolerance in Ireland. Today's topic asks "How is Tolerance Possible Here in the 21st Century?" The speakers are Rev Bill Darlison and Mr Mustafid Gani of the Islamic Cultural Centre of Ireland. Admission free. 1.10pm.
Sandford Parish Church in Ranelagh, Dublin is organising a series of concerts during Lent. Tonight's offering features performances by mezzo-soprano Tara Eraught and organist David Adams. The music in the series will vary from Handel, Mozart, Bach and a selection from Guy Bovet's Tangos Ecclesiasticos. Tickets €8/€5. 8pm.
The likes of model Glenda Gilson and TV presenter Pamela Flood get a chance to show off another string to their bows when they appear in Eve Ensler's The Vagina Monologues in Spirit, Middle Abbey Street, Dublin. The eight-week run features up to 16 well-known Irish women in a production that will raise money for the Dublin Rape Crisis Centre. Tickets €28.
Larrikin Love are the talented purveyors of a musical cocktail of ska and jazz rhythms shaken with a soupçon of samba. Tipped as a band to watch, the lovable Londoners are appearing in Dublin's Sugar Club tonight. €14. 8pm. Book on 01-6787188.
