Gerry Molumby and Rory Murphy, DJs

The Solas Anseo DJ Carnival, a veritable vinyl marathon, is the precocious brainchild of Gerry Molumby and Rory Murphy, both regulars on Dublin's DJ scene. Murphy's day job is with the ISPCC, the children's charity set to benefit from funds raised at the event, while Molumby runs Big Brother Records in Temple Bar. A trawl of their respective contact books resulted in more than 80 of the country's most popular club and radio DJs agreeing to man the decks at three neighbouring venues on Wexford Street. From 4pm today and tomorrow Anseo, Solas and Carnival will each be buzzing with the sounds of Dandelion, Jenny Huston, Johnny Moy, John Averil, Bianca Luykx, Steve Wall and many more. "Nothing like this has been done before," says Molumby, who will do his own set before running around between venues co-ordinating the event. "All acts are giving their services for free." Wristbands, which give entry to all venues, cost € 10 per day. Tickets are available from Big Brother Records on Crow Street and a ticket office in the form of a VW camper van parked on Wexford Street. Don't hang these DJs. Róisín Ingle
